Hi Natasha, glad to hear you enjoyed the article. Affinity mapping is just a technique used to group information together and find themes, so you would use that with your empathy map to understand the themes and go onto create needs statements.

I would maybe use questions and then affinity mapping if I was doing a more targeted user interview or observation that was not working towards the refinement of my personas.
